A WORLD-FIRST THAT CHANGED THE SUB-SEA CABLE INDUSTRY.
Shell briefed Eunisell Interlinked PLC after vital sub-sea electrical and fibre optic cables from the mainland to three oil platforms had been vandalised after installation and before commissioning. It was assumed that saltwater ingress had caused significant damage and affected the communication and electrical cables integrity – But the extent of the damage was unknown.
EUNISELL INTERLINKED PLC ASSESSED THE DAMAGE AND SOLUTIONS REQUIRED.
Critical to success, were replacement composite joints – But none were available in the market at the correct specification. With the deadline looming, our engineers were forced to design the splicing from available Raychem materials whilst meeting the rigid international standards for corrosion protection, moisture blocking and survivability under high pressure from undersea deployment.
